Snow's shameful dismissal of Sheehan--NYT

Sat Aug 05, 2006 at 02:56:26 PM PDT

Well, the Bush Administration always seems to raise its own bar in oily disregard for our men and women in uniform.  Honestly, they still refuse to connect the dots, and I'm damed tired of watching it.  I hope this is all over the MSM and our progressive sources Monday.

Here's Tony Snow on the continuing irrelevancy of Cindy Sheehan: (per the New York Times via Raw Story)

Q(.--what about Cindy Sheehan in Crawford?)

"So far there are no plans at all but I would advise her to bring water, or Gatorade, or both," Snow said.

Asked if advisers would be sent to speak with Sheehan, Snow responded, "You know what, honestly, when you're talking about the kind of issues we've been talking about, Cindy Sheehan just has not risen to the level of staff meetings at this point."

Read the whole thing.  I don't have the stomach for it.  Then ponder with me the administration's considering of sending $10 million and advisors to Lebanon instead of sending new humvees/armor/potable water/etc. to our own troops in Iraq.  How many Vietnams can Bush create before 2008?

Breaking--Correspondent's dinner now on CSPAN

Sun Apr 30, 2006 at 04:52:45 PM PDT

This is barely a diary--but note that in central time--it's now 6:50 pm central--Bush is on with his evil twin right now.  Tune in, Kossacks! Hurry hurry hurry--I'm making more text so this will be accepted by the great automatic receiver....now he's "skewering" Cheney.  Little did he know.  Saw Colbert and the Mrs. in the red carpet area--she's lovely, and he is cool as a cucumber.

My Modest Proposal: Drafting A Reality-Based Preparedness Plan and Plank

Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 08:45:39 AM PDT

Good Morning, Kossacks!  I don't often diary, so if I get the necessary number of sentences in, please extend a little forbearance on missing style points.  This diary is to set down one of those ideas you get when your mind slips into an alpha state while you're nodding off over your cereal bowl.

The Idea:  As a housewarming gift for our new Congress people in 2006 and our New President in 2008, let's start now and build them a Draft Civil Preparedness Plan.  Even assuming that the current administration and career bureaucrats have a plan for the several critical non-terrorist related threats that we know exist, a draft civil plan couldn't hurt.

There's so much more in There's Moresville:

Missing Children--send in the FBI

Wed Sep 14, 2005 at 09:14:12 PM PDT

Per Anderson Cooper: over 2000 kids missing or separated from families, over two weeks since Katrina.  The Red Cross, Missing Kids.com, etc. register, CNN has a reporter at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Cooper: why don't we run a crawl with names of these kids? (Doesn't mention other urgency to protect from sexual predators dispersed from N.O. etc.)

So here's the thing:  why don't we have the FBI working on this?  Are they all that busy that one or two agents from each office couldn't work on this, or State bureaus, DOD, HHS, IRS, etc.?

Sure, we've lost some of those precious children to storm surge.  Some have been spirited away by sex offenders from shelters.  But lots and lots are just in Shelter A while their parents are in Shelter B.  Why are these kids and their at-risk status NOT a priority of federal law enforcement?    Please, someone tell me I've missed something so I can say "never mind!"

Distress Signal from Mobile Bay

Mon Sep 05, 2005 at 05:27:41 PM PDT

I suggest (and ask you all) that we fly, wear, or sticker our American flag UPSIDE DOWN. We are in distress, we are sinking. We here on the Gulf Coast, while resolute, have moments when we know we are tired, we are weary, we are worn.  I know this is true nationwide.

Note also that there is a move afoot for Wednesday, September 7, a nationwide initiative, to protest and demand that Bush resign.  Here's the link.

http://www.demandbushresign.com/

As a well-educated, well-spoken, white Southerner, I feel that I now have a mission for the rest of my life here on the Gulf Coast-- to speak with, and for, those who should be heard.  For the multi-cultural gumbo of New Orleans to be salvaged, the bayous must not be "reclaimed" with upscale condominiums overlooking the federally-funded and politically correctly restored wetlands, so long lamented in these parts. I want to make sure that my fellow Southerners have not perished in vain, especially those who perished, in their homes or in the streets, in the  secondary man-made disaster of non-response.
